Стрелок узнаёт эту историю от нимфоманки Элли, хозяйки салуна «У Шеба», которая взамен требует от Стрелка вступить с ней в связь. Шеб, тапёр-пианист в салуне и бывший сожитель Элли, делает неудачную попытку зарезать Роланда из ревности. Жители Талла находятся под влиянием полоумной сектантки Сильвии Питстон, которую человек в чёрном настроил против Стрелка. Перед самым уходом из города, жители, ведомые Шебом и Сильвией, набрасываются на Стрелка, и он расстреливает всех нападавших.
